Congratulations on finding an obscure corner of the internet.</p> <span id="continue-reading"></span><h2 id="who-are-you">Who are you?</h2> <p>I'm JonJon. I grew up in a small town in Tennessee. When I was little, my dream job was to work at the NASA mission control center and/or be a theoretical physicist. I'm neither of those things now.</p> <h2 id="why-did-you-make-a-blog-in-2026">Why did you make a blog in 2026?</h2> <p>Writing is my way to reckon with the world. I've found that the pressure of sharing my writing with others yields better writing, and better writing means better thinking. I'm also inspired by some of the great blogging that people are doing these days (check out the blogroll). So this blog is a space for me to grow intellectually, and I hope other people might get something out of it.</p> <h2 id="ok-but-why-did-you-make-a-blog-in-2026">Ok, but why did you <em>make</em> a blog in 2026?</h2> <p>For fun! And because, although I've been a software developer/enthusiast for years, AI coding agents have made it <em>so</em> easy and fast to build things for fun. I could have set up a Substack in about 20 minutes, or I could have a fun weekend project with total control over every little detail. For me, that's a no brainer.</p> <p>This blog is made with <a rel="external" href="https://github.com/getzola/zola">Zola</a>, an open-source static site generator written in Rust, and hosted cheaply with <a rel="external" href="https://pages.cloudflare.com/">Cloudflare Pages</a>.</p> <h2 id="what-are-you-going-to-write-about">What are you going to write about?</h2> <p>Hopefully a little bit of everything. Because I'm a lawyer, there are likely to be many posts about the law, legal theory, and silly pet interests like the act of state doctrine. Because I'm a dork and once-professional, now-amateur coder, there will probably be a lot of posts about technology and its intersection with law. And because I'm a dad and husband, I might share some personal stories and photography from time to time.</p>
